Joe Biden was inaugurated as president of the United States on January 20, 2021, having beaten incumbent Pres. Donald Trump in the November 2020 general election by 306 electoral votes to 232. Biden previously served as the 47th vice president of the United States (2009–17) in the Democratic administration of Pres. Barack Obama. He represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 2009, during which time he won reelection six times.
