David Hume’s philosophical works included A Treatise of Human Nature (1739–40), An Enquiry Concerning the Principles of Morals (1751), An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding (1758), and Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion (posthumously published in 1779). He also wrote on political economy (the Political Discourses, 1752) and history (the multivolume History of England, 1754–62).
