Miānwāli, city, Punjab province, Pakistan. The city, the district headquarters, lies just east of the Indus River; it is connected by road and rail with Multān and Rāwalpindi. Founded in 1868, it was constituted a municipality in 1903–04. Institutions include a hospital and government colleges affiliated with the University of the Punjab. Pop. (1998 prelim.) 79,996.
