Cabañaquinta, town, south-central Asturias provincia (province) and comunidad autónoma (autonomous community), northern Spain. It lies southeast of Oviedo city in the valley of the Aller River in the Cantabrian Mountains. Remnants of an early Roman settlement include the remains of a road and an ancient altar of Jupiter now in the church of San Vicente de Serrapio. Cabañaquinta’s chief population centre is the parish of Moreda. While stock raising and coal and iron mining are significant industries, tourism (focused on hunting, fishing, and swimming sites along the river) has increased considerably. Pop. (2008 est.) 1,560.
