Broadland, district, administrative and historic county of Norfolk, England. It occupies a region north and east of Norwich, which is the district’s administrative centre. This rural district takes its name from the Broads, the inland waterway system that contributes to its distinctive aquatic landscape. Most of Broadland, however, is rich arable land, even the alluvial valley floor having long been embanked and drained. Tourism operates from Wroxham; Blickling Hall, a National Trust property, and many fine churches also attract visitors. Area 213 square miles (552 square km). Pop. (2001) 118,513; (2011 prelim.) 124,646.
